Season End Football Party

The Vikings will celebrate their football season with a party This Saturday, November 15th at 1:00 pm. The venue is at the Lindon City ball fields at the clubhouse just north of the little league field. Hope to see you there!

The Vikings played a game that came right down to the wire...again! It seemed time was not on our side this week as in the final seconds (which seemed like 30) Lone Peak was able to score a touchdown to tie the game at 12. And with no time on the clock, LP scored an extra point to win the game 13-12.

Our boys played an amazing game and to have two 1-point, heart-breaking losses in one season will only make them stronger and want it more.

Vikings vs. Saratoga Springs Spartans 8/13/08

Last week's game was like a bad dream you wanted to forget.  This week against the Saratoga Springs Spartans, the game was like a song you couldn't get out of your head, and didn't want to! What a game!  Everyone contributed with hard work and passion.  The Vikings played an amazing game with our offense scoring three times.  And our defense holding SS scoreless.   And even Mrs. Coach Brown was serenaded Happy Birthday.  Now, that's a great Saturday.

Vikings vs. American Fork 9/6/08

The Cavemen jumped out to an early lead with two quick scores in the game Saturday played at Rocky Mountain field in Lindon. Our Vikings were not intimidated and came back strong answering with two rushing touchdowns by quarterback Jaxon Brown. The Vikings just missed on the first extra point try but converted on the 2nd thanks to a spectacular run by Anthony Ridge that featured several bone crushing blocks from fellow Vikings to open up a path. AF punched in a TD trying to put the game out of reach with minutes left but our defense came up big, stuffing the extra point try to keep the margin within one possession. A fumble on a promising drive left the Vikings looking to get the ball back with time waning. Our big “D” came through again but Time was now playing for American Fork and a stingy clock ran out on the Viking efforts to send the game to overtime. AF 22, Vikings 14

Vikings vs. Lone Peak 8/30/08

On Saturday morning against a Lone Peak team we remember so well; the game came down to the last play…in overtime. What was a very hard fought battle by both teams could have gone either way; but when it was all over, the Vikings were on the losing end, by one point. Things looked good for the Vikings going into the sudden death scenario. Looking at fourth down and goal, Quarterback Jaxon Brown threw a pass which seemed to hang in the air impossibly long. And there was Hunter Walker, in the end zone executing the play that no one expected. Touchdown! The first score of the game. The Vikings went for the one point conversion and looked to the defense finish the game.
Lone Peak responded with a touchdown of their own to tie the game and claimed victory by scoring on a two point conversion to make the final score 7-8.
A heartbreaking finish that will surely be avenged.

Vikings Win!

On Saturday the 3rd grade Viking team rolled to their first win. By ‘rolled’ I mean stomped, dominated and killed, the way Vikings do.
Playing in the vast field at Willow Creek in Lehi, the Vikings took charge and never let up against their comrades from PG, also Vikings. Things got off to a great start with Nic Slater causing a fumble on the opening play. Danny Severe kept a drive going by catching a 10 yard pass before being tackled. Led by veteran Viking QB, Jaxon Brown, who contributed two running touchdowns of his own, the 3rd grade squad made the final score 33-7. Running back, Anthony Ridge scrambled around defender after defender for what seemed like a 99 yard run and wound up in the end zone allowing opportunity for crazed fans/parents to do their thing along the sidelines. Phenom Josh Kleinman couldn't resist getting in on some action of his own and ran for two touchdowns to add to the tally.

Coaches remarked about the tremendous job the defense did in shutting down PG’s offense. Other than one fluke run that resulted in their only score, the rival Vikings could not muster even a first down against Lindon's "Tenacious D"!

Practice Times for Week of Aug. 25

We will have practice on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm this week. The boys did great this weekend. Keep encouraging them to practice hard and keep focused at practice.

COACHES REMINDERS

The boys are doing great. I am amazed at how much they are improving with each practice. I hope the boys are enjoying it as much as the coaches.

Parents, just a few reminders. We have a lot to do in a very short time. I am trying to end practice on time. It is important that the boys get to practice on time. As always, if there is ever anything you feel that We need to know about or concerns, please let me know.

The league is slowly getting the game information together. So please be patient and understand that practice schedules are subject to change because of game schedules. All I know at this time is that we will have our first game on Saturday the 23rd. More information will be posted on the blog when it is available. Please check the blog frequently for new information.

ANother Change....we apologize

The coaches are doing the best they can with all the scheduling conflicts they have so bear with them.....there will be NO practice on Friday, instead just the practice/scrimage on Saturday at 9:15. You will still need to go to weigh in on Friday at the PG rec center from 5-7pm. Reminder the lines get long so plan enough time! Thanks for all you support! Just a reminder to call Melissa Wiest to order your viking shirts/hoodies!

Weigh in date change

The league has changed the weigh in date to this Friday . Practice has changed on Friday to 3:00-5:00 pm to accommodate this change. Weigh in is at the new PG rec center from 5-7:00 pm. You can take your boy over to the rec center right after practice! We sent out a heads up on the t-shirt ordering, The shirts are going to be blue with the viking logo on the front and it will say Lindon Viking Football! (we will not be able to do custom shirts this year, sorry!) call melissa wiest to order your shirts asap...785-7444! (the sizes run from xs youth to xxl adult) get a shirt or hoodie for you and everyone in your family....awesome team spirit!!!

Parade on Saturday

The Lindon Vikings are going to be in the Lindon Days parade on Saturday. If you can make it, have your boy be dressed in pads/game pants and jersey. (if you are new and dont have a jersey tell coach and we can either lend you one or your boy can wear a blue or white practice jersey). Wear regular shoes (no cleats) and no helmets. Also, have the boys bring a water bottle with their name on it. We will meet in front of the Oak Canyon Jr High seminary building at 9:30. GO VIKINGS!!!!

Friday Practice Change

This Friday we are changing the practice time to 5:00 PM-7:00 PM, with a scrimmage against the 4th grade Lindon Vikings at 5:30...at Rocky Mountain. NO MORNING PRACTICE ON FRIDAY!! We will be in the parade this Saturday. We will update you by Friday as to where and when to meet and what the boys will wear/bring etc. Thanks!
